I was inspired by real life needs for assistance rearing my three wonderful children. My children and I needed assistance at various points in their development whether socially, financially, or academically. Pathways to Hope by the Salvation Army, Michigan's new medicaid model for MIHP also gave me ideas for inprovement to the way community helps parents raise their children to become healthy and whole adults.

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Infant mortality, decrease the iliteracy rate, eating healthy, and giving beds to children who sleep on the floor.

The most impactful portion of this model is to follow the children from birth to age 18. It includes the fathers which not many agencies encourage the interaction of the fathers to promote a whole family model where the children boys and girls alike learn both aspects of their identity.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is your solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Sponsors are currently being sought out. We are currently developing a major gifts sustainability plan as well or fundraising plan for individual donors and or foundations . In addition, we plan to accept medicaid and other health care insurance providers.

Unique Value Proposition: How else is this problem being addressed? Are there other organizations working in the same field, and how does your project differ from these other approaches?

There are other for profit organization carrying out Maternal Infant Health programs that receive part of their funding from medicaid as well as other health care providers.

Reflect on the Field and its Future: Stepping outside of your project, what do you see as the most important or promising shifts that can advance children’s wellbeing?

Children impacting their own community as the grow into adulthood. In addition, we plan to make partnerships with other organizations serious about impacting the total well-being of our future which is our children.
