Founding Story: Share a story about a key experience or spark that helps the network understand why this project got started or a story about how you became inspired about the potential for this project to succeed.
Kaiser Health News and the Marshall Project have shown how a nonprofit, professional journalism organization, dedicated to producing quality content for dissemination to both subscribers and through general media distribution can raise overall awareness and appreciation for a focused field of interest. Child's World America will create such a platform that fills the gap caused by the dwindling number of staff journalist covering children and family issues. A catalyst for systemic change.

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?
According to UNICEF, the US ranks 26 out of the 29 richest countries on Earth in overall child well-being. Many reasons exsist but overall lack of awareness of our poor performance and the existence proven better solutions is certainly one reason. According to AECF, Kids Count data even our states vary greatly in their performance against already identified metrics. Any theory of change begins with heightened awareness of the real situations.
The solution to delivering overall well-being to all children is a society-wide appreciation of our children's experience of childhood and how those experiences shape our nation's future. Our nation's children are our most valuable treasure.

Child's World NEWS covers all aspects of America's children from conception to adulthood.
Start-Up (a pilot that has just started operating)
Example: Walk the network through a specific example of what happens when a person or group engages with your solution.
Child's World NEWS is about telling stories. All kinds of stories about all kinds of children and the world they face. A recent story highlighted Smith Memorial playground and their enlightened approach to play. The specific examples were framed against a background of typical practices and problems faced all across the country. Another local story covered the passing of a sugary drink tax and the proposed uses of the funds to significantly improve the well-being of Philadelphia's children including the funding of universal Pre-K.
Impact: What was the impact of your work last year? Please also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.
As we have just started, early impact is not yet measurable. A better funded example of what we are doing is the Marshall Project focused on criminal justice. In two years they not only won a Pulitzer prize but significantly influenced the issues debated in the presidential campaign especially incarceration rates and the racial inequity of that incarceration record. In order to gauge our impact we want to utilize ongoing polls and surveys to monitor public awareness of the host of issues affecting America's children
$50k - $100k
Financial Sustainability Plan: What is your solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?
Funding for our project will evolve over time. In the start-up phase, Foundation and major donor support will be primary. Over the longer term, corporate underwriting support for Child-centric journalism and public support from a growing list of members and subscribers is expected.
Unique Value Proposition: How else is this problem being addressed? Are there other organizations working in the same field, and how does your project differ from these other approaches?
Prior to start-up we did extensive exploration both with child centered organizations and general media distributing sources and found virtually no other organizations pursuing the creation of a nonprofit journalism organization focused on child well-being
Reflect on the Field and its Future: Stepping outside of your project, what do you see as the most important or promising shifts that can advance children’s wellbeing?
Making America the best country in the world to grow up as a child is not beyond the ability of the richest country on Earth. We think the path is for a number of collective impact focused teams such as Universal thriving from prenatal to pre-K, Universal learning readiness from PreK to First grade, Universal literacy from first through third grade, etc. all set against a growing societal commitment to more and better investment in our children. Winning the global race to be the best country for child well-being is a challenge they must be convinced is in their critical national interest.
