Founding Story: Share a story about a key experience or spark that helps the network understand why this project got started or a story about how you became inspired about the potential for this project to succeed.

Our community has a diverse population both economically and culturally. Many families do not understand their rights within schools and therefore do not advocate for their children. We provided training to parents on understanding rights in Special Education, provided resources and how to approach the school. After the training, a parent contacted her child's case manager because the student wasn't getting the IEP services. After the meeting the student received all back services.

Parents know more about that their child and community needs.  It's time to listen to their voices.  Navigating a system is challenging and parents are often overwhelmed and scared to approach those in authority.  Out Council empowers parents as leaders, allows them to identify areas of need and create solutions.  In partnership with community Agencies we move forward an agenda to make Cumberland County a better place for our youngest citizens.

Wonderful concept- however you are a little vague. I feel that you need to really think abstractly on some of these questions to bring together a powerful application. The founding story can have amazing effects on boosting the merit of what you are doing. Rethink the question, how can you pass on the information in a way that sticks in an individuals mind. Tell us exactly what you already have, but make it a story. Make it a process of what a certain individual went through in your organization. May it be the person who inspired the creation of your initiative or somebody that cultivate how it is today. A memory that is strong for you. That strength will be passed onto your readers. Do not be scared to be transparent.

I loved that you used some photos! It adds strength to your profile. Consider going back through and placing information throughout. Remember though- it is not about pushing facts out. It is about creating a visual for the reader to experience. That is how you hook them in.
