Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

Today farmers face several challenges:
- International market competition, the effect is a reduction of the profit due to the need of reducing final selling prices. For this reason they have to reduce costs increasing quality.
- Climate change requires continuous adaptation of the best time to proceed with any agricultural operation.
- AgriTech adoption is not an option but average usage in EU is far below 10% versus 80% of North America and Australia: farmers need a way to integrate these technologies.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

Agricolus is a cloud applications ecosystem for precision farming with multiple purposes: disease awareness and forecasts, crop monitoring, decision support system for treatments and fertilizers, farm management and end to end traceability bringing valuable information to final users. It is already on the market and multinational agroholding companies, medium-big farms, association of farmers and government are using it successfully.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

We have already satisfied customers, improving their efficiency and producivity and giving them a tool that helps them to make important decisons on daily basis.

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

We raised about 550k € of public fundings (national and EU funds) and the company invested up to 300k € in time materia and company capital.

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

We have already satisfied customers, a large network among the value chain and top level reputation among technical partners, we have built some strategic Italian and international alliances that allows us to work with top player suppliers and research centres. We have and high skills team members, proprietary professional forecasting algorithms, and we are working on the AgriPlug device that will allow us to require a patent for the whole ecosystem.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

Passion for geography of Antonio Natale and TeamDev’s skills in GIS created immediately interesting ideas and very innovative projects.
In 2011 TeamDev was very interested in GIS and studied it with great attention. At the same time Antonio Natale met TeamDev and it was immediately love.
Shortly afterwards we talked about geospatial revolution, a very innovative concept for that time.
Antonio told about it in his editorial of September 2011, “announcing” the birth of our GEOSPATIAL REVOLUTION:
“We started talking about Map Server, Space Analysis and Geodatabase. We had fun while creating mobile applications integrated with GIS and complex systems (server, desktop e mobile)  to support improvement of quality of life”. (Antonio Natale cit. – “La nostra geospatial revolution”).
