Rumbia is dedicated to supporting and assisting local communities to become economically empowered through renewable energy solutions. We believe that renewable energy must be adopted and embraced in order to secure a prosperous and economically sustainable Aceh.
It is the first organization in the Aceh region to focus specifically on introducing and promoting the utilization of renewable energy for economic growth.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

Rumbia was formed following growing recognition of the impending energy crisis across the Aceh province and the collective passion to do something about this issue now. The team began working together in 2013 while executing the Wonder Women program in North Aceh, as part of Kopernik’s women’s economic empowerment that distributes clean energy technologies for household use in remote communities. Through the experience of interacting with the Acehnese people on a daily basis through this work, they were motivated to find solutions that would both empower the community economically and protect the environment at a larger scale. we believe that with increased awareness about the importance of renewable energy and the knowledge of how this can stimulate and support economic growth, better outcomes will be established sooner.
