Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

Eteicon Farm is closing the gap of Malnutrition by breeding and fattening of pigs, and Processing them into Pork meat; which is sold at a very affordable prices to low income families in our community. This serves as a huge source of meat protein in the diet of over 500,000 low income families living in Aba South local government area of Abia State.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

1). Eteicon farm produces 100% Organic, Processed Pork Meat that serves as an alternative source of meat protein in the Diet of over 500,000 low income families living in Aba South local government area of Abia State, Nigeria.
2). Between January 2017 to June 2017, we have trained 15 Women- Small holder pig farmers in our Community.
3). With the use of Technology, through our very strong social media presence on facebook and WhatsApp, customers easily connect us and then, have their fresh farm pork meat orders delivered at their door step using our farm delivery Van.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

1). We provide 100% Organic and processed pork meat that serves over 500,000 low income families in our community annually.
2). We have employed 6 people in our farm (4 Rural Women and 2 Adolescent boys).
3). We have trained 15 Women Small holder pig farmers in our community between January and June 2017.
4). Pigs dungs from our farm is recycled to serve as Organic manure in our Vegetable farm which when we harvest these Vegetables (Pumpkin, Lettuce and Cabbage), we use them to feed our pigs.

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

Eteicon farm funds comes from Earned Income. We stocked our pen in January 2017 with 62 weaned piglets, fed and fattened them for 5 Months; and then, Sold off 50 from the herds retaining 12 best performing pigs (10 Sows and 2 Boars). we re-stock our pen from the litters of these Sow and repeat the cycle. By the end of December 2017, we will have an expected output of $6,963 with a Gross Profit of $2,380 which is equivalent to a 52% Gross Margin.

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

1). We feed our pigs with fresh farm Vegetables and Spent grains. We don't use Growth Hormones.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

Before I embarked on this journey of becoming a Pig Farmer, I saw pigs a Very Dirty Animals'. Not until after I participated in an Enterprise Development training Sponsored by World Bank for the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FADAMA 111 AF) Programme for graduate unemployed Women and Youths at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze in Anambra State Nigeria, did I Develop more passion towards scaling up our activities in Eteicon farm.
