Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

Vegetable prices tend to fluctuate widely in India depending upon season and climate and when prices of essential vegetables like onions, tomatoes and potatoes suddenly shoot up they result in great stress on most households. Dehydrating vegetables in seasons of excess solves this problem and helps to improve nutrition. It is also a source of rural employment if units are set up for dehydration and packaging near source for same.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

The most promising aspect of this project is increasing food availability for all at low cost, reducing wastage and providing an opportunity for increased rural income and employment.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

The impact of the work so far has been primarily educational and promoting the concept of dehydrating vegetables. It has helped to reduce hunger and improve nutrition by those who have taken it up.

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

Presently the project is largely education and small contributions by the authors and therefore requires no significant budget. Whatever expense has been made has been from personal resources of founders. OHMM does not accept grants or funds and yet has found that it is possible to make huge impact without them.
e.g. Gandhi freed the world from the British Colonial empire, Vinoba Bhave a follower helped provide land to landless with zero funds.

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

The project is not unique at all. The idea is as old as human civilization but it is neglected.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

It was a Oh moment of heart breaking at seeing hunger in children in poor and rich countries that sparked this initiative, just the opposite of an Aha moment.
