Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

WHY: Our mission is to improve global living standards for the most in-need people in the world. We do that by providing solutions to some of the fundamental and global human needs: access to clean water and sanitation, free-energy and connectivity. Our primarily product is not necessarily water or electricity, but people’s happiness and well being.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

HOW: We create technological solutions powered by clean and renewable energies. They respect and protect the Earth’s ecosystem. They are conceived through innovative design and unconventional engineering approach. We are inspired by the 4th Industrial Revolution paradigms.
WHAT: We are building thermodynamic computer of the series Watly 3.0.
This computer performs (as any anther computer) data collection and management, interacts with people through advanced interfaces, it is also solar powered, it purifies water from any type of contamination, it generates electricity off-grid.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

One Watly is a stand alone solar HUB that can transform the life of 3000-5000 people. Two or more Watly become a network. Our company founder Marco A. Attisani has been a fundamental evangelist of the concept of the Energy_Net since 2008. The idea of the ‘Energy_net’ grasps the truly transformational potential of combining vital and basic resources into a self-supporting ecosystem. Energy_net refers to a solar powered smart-grid behaving like the Internet, but where information technologies merge together with electricity and water. Contrary to Internet, the Energy_net generates the same very power it needs to function. The Energy_net will transform “urban territories” in smart green spaces. It will also “terraform” the harshest and farthest places of the Earth establishing new cities where there are none today.

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

The company has received different public funding the most significant which was granted by SME instrument - Horizon2020 - the second by the European Pioneers and Fiware - the third by Premio Marzotto in Milan - the fourth by European Space Agency Business Acceleration Program. The total funding is approximately of 2.2 M€. From now on the company will go to market and generate income by selling fully functional unit of Watly.

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

Have you ever heard of a thermodynamic computer?
If the answer is "no", you have found already why we are unique. We are building these machines.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

Two fundamental events occurred in my life:
1) I was born
2) At the age of 40, I have finally embraced my personal mission: to bring water and progress to the people of the world.
