Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

1. Distribution of freebies by government and NGOs culminating dependency, begging “I cannot do” mentality
2. Frequent disasters caused by manmade unplanned development activities and induced by climate change effects.
3. Migration of youth force abroad and abandoned family resources and misuse of community resources because of lack of planning.
4. Neglect of women causing extension services and development activities to gear towards men only which has detrimental negative effects on family and community resources.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

1. Attitude change training to staff, women leaders and women’s groups. Process to be followed accordingly. No freebies. The training content will be of graphic story presentations, role plays, stories or events and participants will reflect on them and draw own conclusions against begging and dependency.
2. Poverty to prosperity exercise training and exercises with those who are willing and capable to do something using family resources. Mapping of family resources, available resources and potentials by transect walking, and developing plan of action to utilize potentialities leading gradually to enterprises.
3. Women’s group strengthening through visioning, planning, follow-up support to be the model women’s groups.
4. Ecosystem Management training to women leaders and ecosystem management plan development with women’s groups and community members by transect walking and resources mapping; and sharing with local elites, local governance agencies and NGOs for support.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

1. Development of positive attitude of “I Can Do and I will Do” attitude which is the foundation of development in the family level. This is needed to eradicate lethargy created by freebies, fatalistic attitude leading to the lethargy.
2. Family level prosperity through Poverty to Prosperity Exercises; Training to staff, development of plans and investment support, radio programme of successful initiatives, interactions or visits. Development of women’s capabilities to analyze resources and find possibilities and potentials for utilization and management of family resources leading gradually to enterprises...
3. Development of resiliency from disasters through ecosystem management and their implementation; Training, plan development, compilation of planned activities and workshop with local government decision makers and NGOs
4. Development of women’s leadership through training, visioning and planning, support for community activities, support for groups, training in agriculture.

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

Women's groups have their own savings and investment schemes in which the project will provide matching fund and support transparent account keeping giving them hands on training and follow up support, and distributing pass books and regular updating. The Treasurer of the group will submit account every month. WATCH has created a revolving fund to support poverty to prosperity investments. It will provide interest free loan but interest will go to the groups to support them. Ecosystem management plans prepared by the groups will be implemented by the groups and their compilation at the area level will be funded by local government agencies and other funding agencies. Benefits from the resources management will be collected in a revolving fund for the future maintenance and use.

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

1. It focuses on attitudinal change towards being positive and inculcating “I Can Do and I Will Do” mentality which is needed in family prosperity.
2. Resources analysis will show that there are abundant resources in the family and community which can be managed for prosperity.
3. It is holistic and integrated rather than just one or few aspects of development.
4. It not only raises awareness but find measures to adapt to minimize effects of frequent disasters and climate change.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

WATCH started Poverty to Property idea and exercise in a small scale, but its impact was quite impressive not only to bring prosperity but also to change mentality of dependency and begging. Those who are willing and capable brought changes in the family's prosperity. An assessment was made with some of the women who had gone through the exercise they had become somewhat economically prosperous but their change of mentality and confidence was quite positive. When that was captured in a video we felt a moment of "Aha" and decided that it is an approach for moving towards prosperity. It did not focus on problems but focused on possibilities and opportunities that emerged our ot resources assessment. The exercise itself blends local resources with some fit and affordable technologies which participants can afford and make use of them. It also looks at whole value chain cycle.
