Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

The only existing theatre institution in the country (under the government) is unable to employ the youth and encourage the study and practice of theatre arts professionally in Ghana. We have then realized that as the world is in a constant change, communities need means or ways to rethink and define new visions for whatever activity they engage into. Our works tends to respond to their need of jobs for it becomes an opportunity for all those who wish to embrace the art performing field.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

We have a strong hold in the performance arts, and thus through play productions together with the screen productions which are of great value as we deliver quality work that has far been recognized and appreciated. For instance with our School outreach programs dubbed, (Da School Project) in which we take plays based on the literature materials to stage for the students, has been of much benefits to the students as the enactment of the stories we bring to for these students enable them to understand details of their readings. And with our performance arts we also create job opportunities: such that, our works get doing with lots of hands with regards to people as already mentioned above that even with our stage productions alone, which consists of not only the actors but also crew or backstage people putting everything together through team work; from the set designers to the marketing departments thus a production alone could have about 20 persons to make it achievable

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

Socially, we have been able to create job opportunities for both theater and non - theater grandaunts. We have produced Theatricals (Dance, Drama, Music) Stage Plays/Film/Animations and held Creative Arts workshops in schools ; basic level to senior and tertiary institutions. We also as Theatre artists who are responsible for the creation of our own " Make Believable world" with regards to designing and building sets/ properties , making of costumes/ wears to even seeing to our welfare ( food, first Aids etc) As such with all these skillful persons in our field we ZAAFI Black Arts & Home a three in one business activities have produced wears ( bags , shoes, and dresses with traditional African prints ) and also offered catering services ( mainly traditional beverages, drinks , snacks and foods) which the " HOME " stands for.

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

And to finance our growth and sustainability, we intend to sell our services such as catering and production of wears. And selling of tickets on productions occasions. To support our initiative, our annual budget's sources are as follow: 1- Individual donations and gifts: 5 % 2- Grants: 15% 3- Corporate contributions: 15% 4- Earned income: 60% 5- Other: 5%

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

What makes our work innovative is that all we do as performance artists has more to do with much creativity, skill, presentation and discipline in action which are necessary in our human living especially in every survival means or career field with respect to Time and Productivity. And what makes us different from other art practitioners is that we produce and deliver quality works which go a long way to make much impact in our communities as we reach out to every corner of the human needs.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

We started as a small performance art group of twenty students from University of Education who reach out to senior high schools across the country (Ghana) with play productions based on their selected literature materials or books. The reason was to make some impact in the society we found ourselves in by promoting theatre arts and drama as we also challenged ourselves as well with everything we had studied. From there arose the question of where we will find ourselves after our studies at the university. To respond to that, we formed a group in 2013 , but got active professionally in 2015, giving birth to ZAAFI BLACK ARTS AND HOME.
