Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

30 states out of 36 states of Nigeria are made up of rural farmers who have challenges dealing with food insecurity, poverty, and hunger as a result of lack of e-agricultural services such as (extension services, credit facilities (loan), farm education, virtual market place, mobile payment, information, high production costs and inefficiencies in agricultural development) in the face of a rapidly growing population.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

The web platform will transform those rural communities into a digitally empowered knowledge economy. Example; Farmers will be provided with a virtual market place that uses trade by barter method. Farmers will have access to display their farm produce and finished products for sale and export. Market price information, government announcement and marketing strategies to assist, guide and support the farmers will also be available for their perusal. farmers will have access to farm cash, farm inputs loan in material form e.g fertilizer, herbicides, seeds, seedlings, stems tubers and others, farm equipment and machinery loan. Access to educational materials from all field of agriculture in farmer’s local dialect. e.g livestock, crop plant, agro processing, farm management, climate change, soil management, farm design and others. Mobile payment will be in place for transaction.

On the platform farmers have access to all relevant information related to agriculture in their own dialect. The Platform have served as a one-stop shop for farmers and provides information on a range of topics including best practices, input suppliers’ networks and agromet advisory. Location-specific information can be accessed by drilling down to the block level. To overcome language and literacy challenges, an SMS portal is used for dissemination of voice-based advisories. After pre - launching of the online and offline facilities, poverty was reduced by 10% within the 50 rural based communities the platform is in operation, with a record profit of $10,000 and creation of 100 jobs in the last 12 months.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

I discovered that all Nigeria banks both public and private does not offer credit facility to rural based farmers. So, what I did was to build and design a web platform that offers cash/inputs (credit facilities), virtual market place, mobile payment, e-trade, farm education and extension services to all rural based communities and hinterland across Nigeria states. The problem faced by poor and rural based individuals and those who live below $2 per day in Nigeria and Africa at large have compel me to apply scientific research in catering for their needs. And, I have been working seriously on problems discovered and proffering lasting solution, by conducting research in various areas of agribusiness sector in order to developed affordable
