Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

FAC is an innovative global agripreneur ecosystem accelerator with the aim to unlock new and natural solutions to nutritiously feed the growing population while at the same time providing an attractive network to the youth to see agriculture as a food basket opportunity. Our platform offers the necessary tools to create agro innovation hubs from a bottom up approach to connect with local farmers. To reach the 2030 SDG goals we must first reinvent the agriculture industry, this could only be achieved by the agripreneurs

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

There is an agricultural revolution underway, but food and agriculture are based on culture and personalised experiences making it more complexed. While more farmers enter the retirement age there there is an urgent call to the youth. FAC, through its innovative open competition model, public-private partnerships, progressive branding and experiential events, is accelerating the transfer of knowledge by mobilizing local communities to create agro innovation hubs, which in turn enables local farmers to embrace knew knowledge in their local language and community. Increasing job creation in developing countries in a sustainable manner by inspiring and empowering the millennials to change their mindset and see agriculture as a food basket opportunity, and while at the same time decreasing the gender gap in the workforce as more than 50% of the food grown worldwide is produced by women.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

Through our bottom up approach we are currently active in over 60 countries across 5 continents, mobilizing over 80,000 people. The average age of our agripreneurs is 28 years old, 90% are in the millennial generation. Every year we hold the Global Agripreneurs Summit in a new continent to bring forward thinking agripreneurs to inspire, connect, and network in order to inform and expedite each local ecosystem.

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

FAC is currently based on a donation model, based on individual and corporate contributions. As of 2018, we are implementing our new platform to include our crowdsourcing platform in the aim to create new revenue streams by earned income.

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

FAC is a nonprofit/nongovernmental organisation, which began from a bottom up approach, with the aim inspire the youth to see agriculture as a food basket opportunity through a new lens. FAC aims to seek SOLUTIONS to address the global challenges in the agrifood system. We seek new and innovative technologies, but at the same time we search for generation old secrets that have proven track record in which have been implemented into modern day society.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

The numbers rang a bell, reading data from the World Bank "agriculture makes up 40% of the global workforce, yet the global contribution of agriculture to the global economic GDP is over 3%". While traditional NGOs and governments have been enabling farmers through large amounts of development aid, this was a realization that this was a poverty trap rather than a liberator. The Chinese proverb rang loud "Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime." This was the beginning of FAC, aims to apply an entrepreneurial mindset to the agricultural industry at the very local level to serve as a catalyst for the creation of new enterprises, jobs and wealth.

How do you expand to other countries like Brazil? Maybe you need friendly arms to reach the primary goal.
