Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?
Our business is solving the problem of high dependence on importation of frozen chicken meat into the country, high rate of unemployment (women, youths and disabled men and women) in the country, food shortage, biogenic basic need of the people (malnutrition), high rate of poverty cycle in the region. Due to high consumption rate of chicken meat in the country, we found a need in that sector, considering that more than 60% of chicken consumed are imported, based on insufficiency in production of quality meat locally.
Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?
Since inception, we have produced, processed and packaged quality chicken meat to different customer segments. Our business has employed over 40 persons directly or indirectly. Within the period of 18 months, the business has trained, mentored and developed over 200 farmers and has established farms for over 100 farmers in our business regions, which were mostly women, youths and disabled people. In the other hand, the farms established by the business, has employed at least 5 persons each in their various farms, which contributes immensely in reducing unemployment rate and level of poverty in the country. Furthermore, the established farms are also given a market space or market access, by buying off their produce for resale, since we have more customer base and has more localised presence in the region. This is done as a rural community development and as an avenue for empowerment of the rural community dwellers and also as a means of more revenue stream for the business.

The business has trained, mentored and developed over 200 farmers, with raw materials, access to credit facilities and right team. Over the period of 18 months, the business has established over 100 farms for community dwellers. This we do as part of our corporate social responsibility and community development. Currently, the business is in the process of creating a platform where scholarships can be awarded for academic excellence and to exceptional students in the secondary and tertiary education. The business has also created employment for over 40 persons directly and indirectly and has the intention on employing more persons within the period of 6 months for business growth and expansion. The business intends to establish 200 farms for farmers and train over 400 farmers, within the interval of 12 months, which is part of the business's annual short-term goal for the year 2017. In respect to the environmental impact of the business, we helped in providing a clean drinking water.
Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?
The financial sustainability of the business depends on the following factors; 1. Revenue stream of the business, which is obtained from the sales of live chicken birds, sales of processed and packaged frozen chicken meat, sales of organic manure (chicken dungs), and earnings from training, mentor-ship and farm establishments. 2.Grants. Earned income. 3.Retained earnings. 4. Bank loans, if the need arises.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.
When I initiated the idea of setting up a business venture, the first thing that came into my mind was how to pay back to the community, state and the country as a whole. I wanted a business that can serve as a community development and as well as a profit maximized enterprise. I wanted to solve a social need. Having a good understanding of the financial environment as regards to the practical aspects of business management, I thought it was time to have a first-hand experience as an entrepreneur. Starting the business with a limited capital, i was eventually functioning in all the departments at that time, was the marketing executive, farm manager, operations manager, sales representative and the head of business development efforts at a point. I was running the business with limited qualified team, without a well defined business model and structure, until we were able to expand team.
