Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?
Solar water heater devices heat water passively from direct sun radiation up to 95 degrees
Celsius. Such high temperature causes the solar water heaters overheating, which is a
worldwide problem, thus decreasing its efficiency, lifespan, and cause body damages to its
evacuated tubes and valves.

PRO-Shield is an innovative solution capable of solving the worldwide overheating problem
faced by residential solar water heaters. PRO-Shield is simply a covering mechanism mounted
on the solar water heater regardless of its size, type and brand, protecting it against the
hazardous effects of the overheating problem and hence enhancing the renewable energy
reliability and efficiency.
Upon our continuous testing on our testing unit at AUB since 16 months, PRO-Shield proved its
capability of increasing the solar water heater life-span by 30% and efficiency by 40%.
Furthermore, we are Socially responsible by the nature of the product, considering that
PRO-Shield saves our vital resource “water” and motivates green energy technologies.

PRO-Shield is capable of:
- Prevent loss and evaporation of water, thus saving our vital resource.
- Increasing solar water heaters efficiency, through preventing the overusing solar collectors
- Prolonging the solar water heaters lifespan, allowing its functioning for 15-20 years
- Protecting solar water heaters against damages of the valves, collectors, or the expansion tank
- Decreases the maintenance cost of the solar water heaters

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?
Upon our continuous testing on our testing unit at AUB since 17 months, PRO-Shield proved its capability of increasing the solar water heater life-span by 30% and efficiency by 40%.
1. Individual investments: I paid around 500$ in the early stage of the startup.
2. Grants: PRO-Shield won several grants, Kafalat ISME grant, Nawaya (a grant supported by the UNDP), Lebanese Industrial Research Acheivement program. Which accumulates to 17000$

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.
Powered by motivation and persistence, in addition to haveing a great patient in renewable technologies, I was very interested in working on solving green energy problems and the most important problem i read about (which is also a worldwide ptoblem with no solution yet) was the overheating problem faced by the solar water heaters. Thus i decided that this is the place where i can make a change and a revolution in the solar water heaters market worldwide, PRO-Shield is the result of all this journey.
