Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

And One of the greatest problems faced by the student’s communities in tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, colleges of education)especially those residing in RURAL COMMUNITIES in Nigeria is the problem of inadequate and epileptic power supply which is having its toll in the lives of these helpless scholars and the development of the nation.

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

Based on our survey (using questioners, group discussions with residents/landlords of lodges ), students of other Universities, ETC, results shows that students are ready to embrace any viable solutions that will not only provide consistent power supply for their academic needs but that will also integrate easy payment plan to substitute crazy bills of PHCN (Power Holding Company Of Nigeria). in this light, Our Company: LIGHTSUP ENERGY is initiating a project called “PROJECT LIGHTHOUSE”
This project aims to power the entire off-campus community of Nigerian universities by harnessing solar power and integrating Energy meter Billing with Load Control over GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) with user programmable Number Features by PIC micro-controller, thus end users within the range of supply can have clean and cheap power supply with respect to individual consumption.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

EFFICIENT POWER SUPPLY: Renewable power sources mainly solar power development can support peak time energy consumption and can add considerable capacity directly to the national grid or embedded network of distribution.
REDUCTION IN GLOBAL WARMING: Global warming threatens the survival of human society, as well as the survival of countless species. LIGHTSUP ENERGY efficient solar panel systems will create electricity without producing global warming pollution.
CREATION OF JOBS AND INTERNSHIP: As a source of energy, solar power is a job-creating powerhouse. Money invested in solar power creates two to three times more jobs than money invested in coal or natural gas.
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE: Clean renewable electricity from LIGHTSUP ENERGY, we will reduce dependence on gasoline generators.
REDUCTION IN POISONOUS CARBON EMMISSIONS: One of the main motivations for the project

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

1. 50%
2. 25%
3. 10%
4. 15%

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

it is the first project of its kind in Nigeria to address one of the most basic needs of Students

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

this initiative was sparked up during our undergraduate days in the university. we experienced a lot of power outage challenges and then we promised ourselves we were going to do something about this problem and the result is PROJECT LIGHTHOUSE
