Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?

Environmental : Aluminum is biodegradable after 150 to 200 years, and by recycling 95 % less energy used, 95 % less water and 95 % less Green House Gas, and because in Tunisia we have 17 non controlled scrap landfills causing contamination for the people around. Social : In Tunisia about 12000 marginalized informal waste pickers working in extremely bad conditions : They have : No job recognition, No social security, No safety clothes, No vaccination and the most important for them, No access to Financing

Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?

We have started a pilot action of 50 waste pickers , we are struggling that it will be a success story to be copied everywhere inside and outside Tunisia especially in the African countries : We are working : - On their social inclusion - Job recognition through a parliament law that should be confirmed - Social security with a private insurance company - Safety clothes will be sponsored by our company - Vaccination will be done by some doctor volunteers association - Regarding financing : We have signed a three parties contract with a Micro-Financing Institution, the waste pickers and our company which will be the guarantee for the their micro-loans got. - To more educate those waste pickers on the environmental added value that they are providing during their contacts with households and citizens.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work

- The Used Beverage Cans collect rate was 75 %, the balance is land-filled. - With the help of the waste pickers, our target is reaching 100%, so far we have reached 80 %, even the the non controlled landfills number is decreasing. - So far, about 50 waste pickers have been involved in the action undertaken regarding their structural integration: - 2017 : 50 waste pickers - 2018 : 300 waste pickers - 2020 : 4000 waste pickers ( Through replication by other companies and NGO's )

Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?

-We have participated in PEPSICO Social impact competition organized in Jordan in November 2016, we have been in second place winner : 1. Individual donations : 10 000 $ ( 40 %) 2. Grants (PEPSICO Social Impact competition ) : 6 000 $ ( 24%) 3. Corporate contributions : 4 000 $ ( 16%) 4. Earned income : 5 000 $ (20%)

Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?

- In counterpart of guarantee of the loans given to the waste pickers, as exporters we will buy directly from the waste pickers, because in fact the recycling value chain is the following : Retailers ( who are the waste pickers ) selling to the wholesalers, who finally sell to the exporters ( our company in that case ), therefore we will directly buy from waste pickers by offering better price to help them reimbursing their loans.

Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.

- It was when i was crossing many areas and seeing them suffering from heavy haulage, bad weather, dirt, contamination etc... i wondered how can i be useful for them especially that they are one of the most marginalized and neglected social category, suddenly i have matched their task with the fact that i'm recycler as well, therefore i struggled to built the chain between a win-win collaboration with those waste pickers.
