Problem: What problem is this initiative trying to address?
Many urban workers in Indonesia today are looking for a better investment. The options they only have today is by investing to a bank, golds, or property. But investing to a bank can only gave them small return, it's only by 6-7% a year on average. While investing to gold is too slow, and simply not affordable for investing in property. In the mean time, there are thousands of farmers that is lack of capital in order to grow & scale their farm.
Solution Summary: What is the proposed solution? What do you see as its most promising aspects for creating shared value?
We created Vestifarm, an agriculture investment platform with higher, easier, and faster return. What we do is, we allow anyone to invest easily (through web-app) and specifically to agriculture sector, that is operated by verified farmers who stands as our partner. Through our platform, farmers & urban workers (or investors) share the profits of every projects by 50%. With that scheme, investors can get fast and high return on the average of 10-20% in only 4 months, and farmers can maximize their operation because of the capital invested by the investor, so they can increase their income along with the scale-up of the farm operation.
Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Specify both the social and the environmental impact of your work
Farmers who partnered with us have increased their incomes by 2-5 times higher because of the scale-up of their operation
Financial sustainability plan: How is this initiative financially supported? How will you ensure its financial sustainability long-term?
We are currently bootstrapping, which means no investment to our company. We've been survived by our own revenue stream.
Unique value proposition: What makes your initiative innovative? How does your project differ from other organizations working in the same field?
As a financial service, only Vestifarm that can provide return by 10-20% in only 4-5 months
Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that sparked the beginning of this initiative.
About one year ago, we had a visit to a rural area, and we met Mr. Yon-yon. He is currently part of our farmers community. He's a small farmer, and own a cattle-farm with the capacity of 20 cattles, but he only ever took care of 5 cattles as long as he own the farm. And it's because he was lack of capital. He could never afford up to 20 cattles because he never had enough money. Then after we got back to the city, we met many of our friends, like Aldi, that he was frustrated of not finding an investment that really fit for him. All of the options available only fit for rich people. So we were thinking, how can I help farmer like Mr. Yonyon, while helping people like Aldi in the same time, in effective and efficient way. So we made Vestifarm
