1. Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that led the founder(s) to get started or the story of how you saw the potential for this to succeed

We recognised that if we could help people enhance their Change Making mindset, skills and abilities, then they would be better able to take the many small steps that can have such a positive impact in our world. They are the ones closest to the problems and therefore often have the most viable solutions. In late 2015 we launched The Change Maker Group. We are dedicated to ‘making this world a better place’, we believe that we have a responsibility to leave a legacy of Change Makers who can shape society, doing great things for themselves and others in their communities, countries and regions. Through The Change Makers Network, we will achieve our Purpose of ‘developing Change Makers everywhere, so that they can change their world’.

2. The problem: What problem surrounding employability or financial capability are you helping to solve?

The problem is that constant change requires people who can contribute, support and make change happen by working collaboratively, however few have these skills. People lack confidence and therefore are unable to effect any positive change. If people see themselves as ‘Change Makers’ who can impact from wherever they are, they will look for areas to influence and have the confidence and know-how to start creating and supporting change.

3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

We are already solving this problem by creating The Change Makers Network which will provide a range of features, including: • Microlearning app • Fully featured website including an online forum for sharing learning and ideas • Learning articles • Webinars • Workshops • The Change Makers Academy. The Change Makers Network is a fully-funded operating ‘division’ of The Change Maker Group, and consequently is strategically managed and operated as such. The Change Makers Network will help people to: • Discover the mindset and skills of an effective Change Maker • Gain the self-insight to maximise their personal strengths and their impact • Learn the skills that they need, to help themselves and those around them • Work collaboratively with and support others • Create opportunities for themselves and others to make a positive impact on change • Create a social impact from their actions • Become active citizens leading positive social and economic change • Ultimately, become more employable in today’s changing world by being resilient and by knowing how to make their maximum contribution. This is fully explained in the attached strategy slides and mind map

4. How are you innovating or using unique approaches to solving the problem?

The Change Makers Network: • Is fully-funded and totally free at the point of use • Uses available technology that employs brain friendly learning methods • Has a free app to support learning materials • Allows varying degrees of engagement • Brings together partners committed to the ideals of the challenge • Captures the innovative ideas of the Network • Encourages and facilitates the mindset of continuous learning • Uses varied delivery mechanisms, available to anyone with any internet-connected device • Is continually evolving, aligned to strategic intent. This approach ensures that The Change Makers Network is responsive to the needs of Change Makers, providing the inspiration, education and engagement to help them.

5. Employability: how is your organization or project teaching people to develop the skills that they need to survive in the future job market?

The Change Makers Network helps future proof oneself, and a few basic skills are necessary. These include: - knowing HOW to learn (not just what) - developing sustainable resilience to manage change stressors - increasing communication and collaboration skills - inspiring the mindset of 'I am a Change Maker' - Developing the skills and knowledge. We will (and already are) offer these skills through a variety of mechanism such as: • Free learning modules – including personal development, entrepreneurial development, living with and delivering change • Webinars and videos – on all aspects of skill development • Articles and social media - ‘Insights’ on a variety of topics • An Academy for young people • Workshops – Change Maker U – a free 2-hour session for all charities to develop Change maker skills and mindsets. Further detail is available in the attached slides.

5a. Please describe which future-oriented skills your organization is focused on fostering and how you have measured / plan to measure progress

The Change Makers Network offers future oriented skills such as: • Understanding, coping and being resilient for constant change • Using personal and team strengths • Collaborating and working with others • Dealing with differing cultures, communication and working styles • Being entrepreneurial leaders. We intend to measure success through: • Monitoring membership of the micro-learning community • Monitoring membership and attendance trends for webinars and the web site • Employing a method by which individuals can measure their outcomes achieved • Generating case studies

6. Financial capability: how is your organization or project creating innovative solutions that arm people with ability to optimize their current and future financial health

The Change Makers Network is not currently focused on specific objectives in this area, although some of our microlearning modules do support this aim. If we find a suitable partner with the skills and material to develop in this area, we will consider how we deliver solutions through The Change Makers Network.

6a. Please describe what aspect of financial capability your organization is focused on fostering and how you have measured / plan to measure progress.

7. Marketplace: Who else is addressing the same problem? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

As far as we know, we are unique in our approach in this area. Through concentrating on individuals and supporting them to be the best that they can be, we are wholly focused on our purpose of ‘developing Change Makers everywhere, so they can change their world’. Our commercial work allows us to fund The Change Makers Network. We commit at least 1% of our turnover to ensuring continuation of funding. We ensure that the Change Makers Network delivers meaningful support to people wherever they are. Our team provides a strong mix of original thinking and pragmatic action.

8. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

Our focus has been to: • Provide a free microlearning app in conjunction with our Partner SmartUp.io - launched in 2019. • Provide a range of articles (3/4 per month) on thought leadership and learning on a range of change subjects. • Develop a free ‘Change Maker U’ 2-hour workshop for voluntary and community groups. • Develop a social media approach to promote The Change Makers Network. Here is a sample of the feedback received on the benefits / learning from our work on Change Makers Network: “The workshops really do help people to be aware that change cannot be done alone” “Recognising the qualities in yourself” “The support of a team and use of others' strengths” “Sharing experiences and seeing we all have same abilities and limiting thoughts” “Simply a reminder that you are in charge of your actions”. Our attached slides outline what we have achieved so far.

9. Financial Sustainability Plan. Can you tell us about you plan to fund your project and how that plan will be sustainable in the short, medium, and long term?

We ensure funding of The Change Makers Network by ring fencing 1% of our total TURNOVER. We also allocate specific surpluses from other activities to The Change Makers Network, meaning that the funding available is in excess of the quoted 1%. In the future, this approach ensures that as The Change Maker Group grows the funding available will increase. Ultimately we operate similarly to a 'not-for-profit', and consequently any profits are not taken by anyone as dividends or other payments – all profits are available to The Change Makers Network. This approach ensures that The Change Makers Network is truly scalable, aligned to the availability of funding, driven by the financial performance of The Change Maker Group.

10. Team

The Change Maker Group comprises around 30 highly skilled change and learning professionals. We are a high energy, positive and pragmatic team. We work with Partners such as SmartUp for the microlearning app, and The GC Index, experts in strengths-based impact assessment. We are dedicated to developing the legacy of sustainable skills. To have empowered, capable and resilient Change Makers making change happen now and into the future without the need for long-term support.
