1. Founding story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that led the founder(s) to get started or the story of how you saw the potential for this project to succeed.

Pets are an important part of human life. They create a positive psychological climate in the family. The conditions of animals associated with impaired mobility lead not only to the cost of significant efforts to care for them, but also lead to the suffering of all family members. They can be caused by polytrauma, in which damage is observed in several bones and joints, and the spinal cord can also be damaged. Another common cause is the development of chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Often there is a pedigree predisposition to these diseases. Therefore, it is extremely important to create rehabilitation centers in which modern approaches to the treatment of diseases and the restoration of motor function will be applied.

2. The problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Rehabilitation is an important element of the healthcare system. This direction allows you to restore lost body functions and return to a full life. Rehabilitation is carried out in accordance with impaired function. In view of the wide distribution and strong influence on the quality of life, it seems important to develop a rehabilitation veterinary center to restore motor functions.

3. Your solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

To solve the problem described above, it is planned to perform: Conducting extensive consultations with veterinarians and a theoretical review on topical problems of the musculoskeletal system of animals, leading to impaired motor function and requiring rehabilitation. The final elaboration of the concept of the functioning of the rehabilitation center, including the stem cell department, the veterinary department and the departments providing physiotherapeutic and medical procedures that are not related to medical treatment. Start of rehabilitation center work

4. Innovation: How are you innovating or using unique approaches to solve the problem?

Among the various veterinary directions, the direction associated with restorative medicine seems to be the least developed. The applied integrated approach, including stem cell treatment, provides the most complete damage to motor function and is innovative.

5. How does your project harness the pet-human bond to help people develop important social competencies (For example: emotional intelligence, collaboration, empathy, resilience, inclusivity) and overcome serious societal issues (for example: violence, abuse, trauma, isolation, abandonment)?

Animals can be exposed to disruption of the musculoskeletal system. This happens not only in the case of violence from a person, but also in accidents or diseases that may be associated with a hereditary predisposition, malnutrition, insufficient or improper motor activity. In case of movement disorders, the animal not only requires significant additional care measures, but also experiences suffering that is transmitted to the owner of the animal and members of his family. It is extremely important the motor function of the animal, and not just relieve it of pain and stop or slow down the progression of the disease.

6. Impact: how has your project made a difference so far in terms of both business outputs and social impact? How do you plan on measuring progress?

The rehabilitation of animals, leading to the restoration of motor function in animals, not only improves the emotional state of their owners, but as a result, improves the social climate, but also reduces the cost of resources for keeping animals, and this frees up additional time and money for performing important social functions. Progress in this area will be evaluated by reducing the number of animals with impaired motor activity.

7. Growth strategies: what are your main strategies for scaling your impact?

Rehabilitation of animals with impaired motor function should be systemic. For greater coverage of affected animals, it seems appropriate to develop a network of rehabilitation centers. Another strategy for the development of rehabilitation programs may be to expand the list of restored physiological functions of animals.

8. Creating shared value: How does your initiative create value for different stakeholders?

The creation of a rehabilitation center for animals provides the following common value: - carrying out rehabilitation services; - restoration of the damaged motor function of the animal facilitates caring for it and frees up the time and money of the pet owner; - restoration of animal health improves the psychological climate and increases the level of happiness in society.

9. Financial sustainability plan: can you tell us about your plan to fund your project and how that plan will be sustainable in the short, medium, and long term?

Short term will be the creation of a network of rehabilitation centers that will cover a significant number of clients and create conditions for raising funds. Medium term - the development of a network of branches within the state. Expanding the customer base, solving the problems of diseases of the musculoskeletal system in a number of regions. Development and implementation of educational programs for rehabilitation of animals. Long term - the development of a network of branches at the international level, the creation of large regional and international rehabilitation centers with a constant customer base. Extensive educational and enlightening activities, a paradigm shift in veterinary medicine - from supporting to restorative.

10. Team: what is the current composition of your team (types of roles, qualifications, full-time vs. part-time, board members, etc.), and how do you plan to evolve the team’s composition as the project grows?

The team that ready to begin the project has 9 people. It includes 2 candidates of sciences (PhD); 3 graduate students; 4 qualified specialists. The project is led by an experienced manager who has opened a biotechnological enterprise “from scratch”. The team has experienced economists and marketers. Dream Team: Opening 20-30 of branches in over the world, expanding the central office to improve the quality and effectiveness of analytical work, conducting educational work.

11. How do you plan to influence your field of work if you are a winner of this edition of the Purina BetterwithPets Prize?

We are implementing a rehabilitation center project and will be able to ensure the restoration of motor function in animals

12. How did you hear about this challenge?

Thank you all for your comments and evaluation of our project! There is a business plan, as well as an understanding of how many registered animals there are on the territory of the Russian Federation and the nearest countries. The socialization of this project is to provide animals with the best possible conditions for rehabilitation (after diseases, stress, negative human attitudes, aging animals). This rehabilitation will be carried out using modern methods of rehabilitation medicine - regenerative medicine based on stem cells. This will create equal opportunities for animal and human rehabilitation, which will increase the importance of pet rights and veterinary medicine in society.
