We are eIoT - environmental Internet of Things firm. We make it easy and affordable to collect high resolution environmental data in real time - for smarter, safer, more sustainable communities. Our first solution targets flooding. Low-cost sensors monitor water levels in flood prone areas and transmit the information wirelessly through the cloud to our clients' emergency management systems so they can take action.

Why is the problem that your organization is solving important to you and your co-founders/team?

My co-founder and I were both single parents and followed the career tracks we could to take care of our children. Now that our children are grown, we have the opportunity to use our experience to do something more meaningful for the world. If the data our system provides can help save property and even lives, if it can help authorities make better mitigation decisions, we will feel that we have contributed something worthwhile in our lives. We want to see our grandchildren grow up in a safe and healthy world. None of us can save the world alone, but we are contributing in our way.

Please provide 1-2 examples of your product/organization making an impact on a city.

The City of Virginia Beach Virginia uses our sensors in retaining ponds, streams and lakes. Their stormwater engineers can monitor rising water levels over a wide area and activate controls to manage water levels. The North Carolina Emergency Management department has Green Stream sensors deployed in eastern NC which is vulnerable to hurricanes. The data feeds into their public flood monitoring and warning system They monitor flood events and deploy help where needed.

Fast forward 15-20 years. What does your organization look like? What is the impact that it's had on society?

Part of Industry 4.0, we'll be monitoring all types of earth's vital signs. We'll be present in urban and rural locations around the world, generating data to help people make better environmental decisions, help with remediation. Data will be used by insurance, transport industries, traffic control (including self-driving cars), government agencies, and weather media.

What differentiates your organization? What makes it so that you can drive a bigger and better benefit to society than other organizations in this space?

We are specifically focusing on environmental IoT. We are building a next-generation, lighter, easier, less expensive but still accurate and reliable product. Our CEO has spent his career working with government customers and understands their needs. We are forming trusting relationships from Washington DC to South Carolina and hoping to expand outward. We are building partnerships with environmental consulting firms - automating their services, and letting them tell us what they need. We are customizing to client needs.

What is the key barrier today to your organization unlocking the maximum amount of impact on society?

Right now the biggest barriers are: 1. We need a dedicated workshop/office to consolidate our operations. 2. We need to build out some specific hardware and software improvements. Both of these things will help us increase our speed and capacity. Both need capital.
