What is the Name of Your Organization?

Laava Tech Inc.

What is The Mission of Your Organization?

Lighting cocsts for indoor farmers take up to 98% of the whole electricity bill. Our system will help to disrupt traditional produce supply chains by building farms near major distribution routes and cities, minimizing harmful carbon emissions, and defying traditional growing seasons by enabling local farming at commercial scale all-year round. Moreover, our patented precision farming technology allows us to use a fraction of the fertilizers and 90% less energy than traditional lighting system

Why is the problem that your organization is solving important to you and your co-founders/team?

All of us have different motivations, ranging from seeing a grandmother growing hundreds of tomato plants in an apartment to having farmer grandparents and seeing the inefficiences that technology could largely solve. Secondly, we're acutely aware of the importance of saving energy, because even if all energy globally would be produced by renewable production methods, the impact on grid infrastructure would be massive and would require huge investments into either grid infrastructure itself or energy storage to stabilize the electricity produced by intermittent power sources.

Please provide 1-2 examples of your product/organization making an impact on a city.

There are some, perhaps obvious examples, such as enabling small-scale, energy-efficient indoor farming for everyone from individuals, to companies, public organizations, and communities. Looking at it from a wider perspective, our technology enables massive energy savings in large-scale production facilities, without some of the major drawbacks of existing lighting technologies (which generally prevent them from being placed near or in cities): We decrease light pollution and enable farming in

Fast forward 15-20 years. What does your organization look like? What is the impact that it's had on society?

Our vision is to grow from a lighting solution provider to a global agricultural data company, bringing massive efficiency gains to food production globally, but not only in terms of energy consumption. By tracking growth data through the AI & machine learning sensors and technology in our product roadmap, we will be able to create a self-learning system to automatically adjust to any indoor farming ecosystem, and provide lighting in the most efficient way, while simultaneously increasing yield. As we collect all the data our equipment produces and captures, we can use Big Data to analyse and

What differentiates your organization? What makes it so that you can drive a bigger and better benefit to society than other organizations in this space?

We believe we have taken a completely different route in developing our technology compared to our competition. They are companies full of smart people making great products, but they space their research on the work of biologists and lighting experts. Both are, of course, necessary and we are utilizing these experts as well. However, our technology is based on a combination of expertise and research in chemistry (any plant growth is a chemical reaction is its purest form), electrical engineering, and software engineering to combine the first two in an efficient package.

What is the key barrier today to your organization unlocking the maximum amount of impact on society?

The bottleneck for us is capital. Our product, while still some way of what we imagine its final form being once we build and develop through our roadmap, is ready for market and we have a healthy pipeline of interest companies waiting for our products, and we haven't done any advertising yet. Once we have the funds to kickstart production in larger quantities, we are in a position to grow very quickly, and have already identified a number of key hires to help us accelerate our growth.
