1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."

Times are changing and Kindergarten is like the new First Grade. While subbing in schools I noticed many students struggling and falling behind. This preschool will help students start strong when beginning Kindergarten. We will learn academic through playing and fun educational activities. We will take field trips to learn material hand on. This preschool will be interactive and engaging to get students learning and excited about school. During the school, parents will be able to view their child through technology. They will be able to see their child on their phone/devices and make sure they are doing well. There are lots of first time parents so by providing this technology their minds can be at ease while working.

2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

The problem I am hoping to solve is early intervention so students don't fall behind in school. When students are starting school there are some students who can write their name while other students who don't even know their alphabet. With this preschool students are able to start on track! I also solve separation anxiety for the parents. Through the power of technology, parents can work and watch their child through their phone.

3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

First steps to implement this plan and to solve these problems is finding a building and well-trained staff. My staff will need to have a degree in Early Childhood or similar program. After those steps, everything will fall into place. Every preschool around here has a wait list for children so the need is high in Springfield, Mo area. Through my preschool, we will learn through fun and engaging educational activities. We would go on field trips for experiential learning as well as using lots of manipulatives and other hand on activities. I want to create a fun atmosphere so students are excited about learning so they will continue having a growth mindset throughout grade school. Throughout the preschool, we will also learn about being compassionate toward animals, the environment, and how to eat healthily. We are raising the future generation and they will be smart, compassionate, and excited to learn. Aside from the student, the preschool will be under surveillance so parents can view their students at any point during the day. Through this app, parents can communicate with one another and view their child through live footage.

4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

Parents Involvement: When a person gets involved in Kids in the Future Preschool we will start off with a test to see where the student is at cognitively, physically, and conceptually. We will have at least four different rooms with a low teacher to child ratio in order for teachers to work more on an individual basis. Parents will drop off their students in the morning and pick them up around 2 pm. Each month will be an event to raise money for the preschool to expand on equipment, crafts, field trips, etc. Non-Parent Involvement: Students who are Early Childhood Education majors are welcome to observe and volunteer at the preschool. we will partner with colleges for practicum students. They will help directly with the students and the staff. Other groups will be invited in throughout the year such as the nature center, a magician, zoologist, and other exciting community members.

5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

Lots or preschool either have to much play or a structured sit-down preschool. This will be the perfect balance between playing and learning through play. An early intervention is important in order for the student to be set throughout the rest of their academic years. This will also be the first preschool that will incorporate a live footage of the preschool that parents will have direct access to. Parents will be able to see their child at any point of the day which will let parents be able to work and allow them to connect with their students.

6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

I have talked to many parents and they are very excited about my preschool. I plan on making a difference in the life of the future generation. Students are able to be advanced learners and Kindergarten teachers don't have to worry about leaving some students behind because they will all be on track. Some parents want to be a stay at home so they are with their children, however with this new technology they will be able to work and view their child throughout the day. Parents will constantly be involved in how their child is doing through the day.

7. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

After having an established preschool we will offer summer camps, after-school programs for students who are struggling in grade school and offer fun engaging activities for parents to bond with their child.

8. Future Support: What are the resources needed to make your vision a reality?

For funding, we will be encouraging the community to participate in events to raise money for field trip money, supplies, and manipulatives. I plan to partner with schools in which students who are struggling academically can participate in our after-school program to get them up to speed.

10. Ripple Effect: Please share some ideas of how you could partner with other changemakers or involve other young people as leaders in making a difference.

I would be able to partner with all the envrionmentalist, vegan, and nutrition changemakers. We are able to combine all these ideas into one to help support the future generation.
