1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."
M.T.C Rain decided to start this project due to many schools not being able to provide water for their students. We are stepping up to make a change because our group wants to make sure every school gets proper hydration for their students. It is important for students to have water around in case there are heat waves or if they are just naturally thirsty. This is why we built a prototype to contain five gallons of water as well as filtering it.
2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?
Recently around our community schools have been dealing with a lack of drinking water causing schools to not provide water for their students.This problem is still around due to schools not being able to afford to replace old pipes. Solving this problem can not only help and benefit schools without water but they won't have to waste a single dime while using our prototype. Solving this problem matters due to people being able to drink water again
3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.
Our group M.T.C Rain has built a special prototype to help store water as well as collect and filter it. When it rains our prototype collects the water and it gets filtered through the process. We decided to use rainwater because most of it goes to waste and we wanted to incorporate it into our project so we would have fresh water that has no chlorine in it. Fun fact drinking rainwater has many benefits for your health. Moving along we have an air pump to pump air inside our prototype which allows air pressure to build up to soon bring out the filtered water. With our prototype, we are planning to put them in Jersey City Public Schools to help other schools in need who are low on water.
4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.
When a person gets involved with our project they usually give us suggestions and feedback on how to improve or further advance our prototype.
5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?
The difference between this project and other programs/solutions is we use nature as a resource to help us with our prototype. We decided to incorporate nature because nature is overlooked by many people and we thought we had a good chance to not only help schools but to conserve rainwater. Many people may not think rainwater is useful but once we present our project to them their mindset about rainwater changes and they see how helpful it could be.
6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?
We have not yet revealed our prototype to the public due to testing it out and making sure it functions the way it's supposed to. Although, we have reached out to people such as Michael Yun to come visit us and check out our project. We also did community outreach to spread the word about the issue currently happening in schools. Once we make our project public we will know if we are making a difference by seeing fewer schools having difficulty trying to get water.
7. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?
Our ideas for taking our project to the next level is to partner with the Board of Education to spread awareness of the issue going around the schools. Spreading awareness would get more people involved in the issue allowing us to make a movement and help resolve the problem faster. To add on, we also want to try out our project in different places around the U.S to see if the prototype is willing to work in any type of condition or place.
8. Future Support: What are the resources needed to make your vision a reality?
My group already has an amazing team of girls who work hard and go beyond and above of their work ethics and we have teachers who support and guide us in our projects. We also have a website which you can check out to find out more about us and how it all started. Although we do play on raising money to add on to our project and buy more supplies.

10. Ripple Effect: Please share some ideas of how you could partner with other changemakers or involve other young people as leaders in making a difference.
Our group M.T.C Rain could partner with other changemakers to combined our projects together to make one big useful machine or prototype to help the environment as well as to help improve today's issues. Our group engaged family, friends, teachers, classmates and so on by making posters and promoting our selves with our social media. We actually went down to a second-grade class to show them how our prototype functioned and the steps we took to do it.
