The Morning Mile™ is a before-school walking/running program that gives children the chance to start each day in an active way while enjoying fun, music and friends. That’s EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY. It’s also supported by a wonderful system of rewards, which keeps students highly motivated and frequently congratulated.

4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

Our program guidebook ensures any school can easily reproduce the Morning Mile™; it has already been implemented in many states such as: Florida, Louisiana, New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, California, Tennessee, Canada and on a US Air Force base near Tokyo, Japan. We have almost 200 schools and camps running with extraordinary success. With participation rates between 65% – 97% at each school, Morning Milers are about to celebrate their two millionth mile run. 5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

It’s free for schools to start! Providing children the opportunity to exercise each morning not only works to fight childhood obesity, it allows students to expend youthful energy on the field leaving them more likely to excel in academics once the school day begins. Teachers praise their student’s new ability to sit still, focus and learn while parents rave about their child’s sense of pride, accomplishment and dedication to a healthy lifestyle. I would like to reach all schools across the US nation and offer the program for them to starts.

This is awesome! I love the idea of building a habit of movement for kids at an early age. I wish I would have had a program like this as a kid. Keep up the good work.

I live in Hawaii and I did not even know about this program at the school. Of course, I'm not sure where that school is. It sounds like a good idea, and since you're doing it already I assume it works. I was just curious, are there studies done showing that first thing in the morning is the best time? I get that it boosts energy and is probably great for the first couple hours, but I know when I had PE first thing in the day I was dead by lunch.
