1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."
Teens are seen as scandalous, disrespectful, and incompetent. This is the image society has created for us. Whether this stereotype fits the majority of today’s teens or not, this phenomena is not new. What is new is the constantly rising levels of depression and stress that is making it very complicated to be a teenager today. Between the internet, peer pressure, and high expectations in academic as well as home environments, teens should not be adding to this stress with things that makes them feel bad about themselves.
Unfortunately, this is not the case. The media and internet is a constant source of negativity. The internet makes us feel like our priorities should include the best swimsuit for your body type , or what lip-liner is a favorite among the kardashians.
2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?
Teenagers don't feel important. They don't feel useful and they definetley dont feel capable of creating change. Instead, they feel stressed and put down by older generations. Not only do older generations mistreat teenagers, teenagers mistreat eachother. We want to help teenagers make positive change in the world, and treat themselves well while doing so.
3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.
What if instead of negativity, we used social media as an outlet for teens to create movements, and global change about topics they’re truly passionate about. What if the internet could be used as a source of positivity? What if instead of writing about celebrities, and dieting people wrote about teenagers just like us who are making a positive impact in the world? What if instead of promoting products that hurt our world, the internet encouraged people to buy products that do the opposite? We wanted to explore these ideas in a way that was targeted towards teens, and that supported a positive lifestyle. So we went to where teens spend most of their time-the internet-and began creating and putting forth the idea of a website that is focused on positivity, where teens could find out more about how to change the world, and how to treat themselves well while doing so. Vivify teen is the website we have created, and are planning to publish in the near future. To Start this process, we used Wix to create a template for our website, and decided that we wanted to feature articles on health, responsible products, teen changemakers, healthy lifestyles, and have an advice column.
4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.
What we read on the internet leaves a big impression on us. When a teenager reads something negative about themselves or others, they take it to heart. When a teenager reads something positive or uplifting, they can use the information they've read, to grow. When someone reads something on vivify teen, even if they don't realize it we know that we will have made a postive change (even if it's small) and aid them in making positve change for themselves, and the world.
5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?
Our website is completely targeted towards teens and focuses on positivity. Other sites leave you with the impression that you aren't perfect and that imperfection is bad. This creates negative self-talk.
6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?
We haven't published our website yet, but the people we've told about it are all really supportive, and inspired by what we are doing.

Having guest article writers, more products to promote, and generally more conduct.
