Date You Started Your Project Started

08/15/2018

Project Stage: Select the description below that best applies to your approach.

  • Idea (hoping to get started in the future)

1. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Over the years they have been a global plastic waste problem and that comes with a mayor problem, the carbon footprint waste. This is important solving it because of the global warming.

2. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

WE are trying to solve this problem by making biodegradable plates using only banana leaves that are economic, freezable, microwavable and most importantly biodegradable and this reduces the plastic waste and the carbon footprint.

3. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project?

We decided to make this project because of an initiative of my school of making new things and some friends and I decide to make something for the environment and since we are in Puerto Rico there is a big population of banana leaves we decide to use them as an alternative prime material.

4. Selfie Elevator Pitch: Include 1-minute video that answers the following “I am stepping up to make change because...”

5. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

we did interviews to know which of the people need more dispensable or carry out containers. we get a result that the people of the food trucks owner are a big population, and we decide to use them as a group of impact. When some of them we call them we explain them how it work and if it is cost effective, also we did the research of different areas in PR and we talk to the food truck areas in which we did like a selling brand marketing.

6. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

The differences between the biodegradable plates and mine is that those takes about more than 30 days, because of the materials the prototypes get to degrade in about less than 20 days so is a 44% less days than the actual biodegradable plates.

7. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

This idea I hope we can develop it and make the plates industrially and so that we can achieve that every location use the products and because of is low cost the demand can grow. Also to have a fabric to make this plates and that they can get it use as it should be. And i will like to make a difference by changing the use of plastic containers.

8. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

We will like to become a real company in Puerto Rico and be the #1 Carry out containers in the Island.

9. Which of the following types of expertise would be most useful for you?

  • Marketing Strategy

10. Finances: If applicable, have you mobilized any of the following resources so far?

  • Friend support
  • Family support
  • Mentors/advisors
