Project Stage: Select the description below that best applies to your approach.

  • Idea (hoping to get started in the future)

1. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Many of the youth today do not really know what they want to do after high school or kids going into high school know what classes to take for the career they want to get into. This stops students from making a pathway into a future career. This app would allow students to guide them to the career path they want it would motivate them to push themselves to their goal.

2. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

Our solution to solve this problem is to create and app that helps teens make a career choice of what they like to do after high school and for middle school students to know what classes to take in high school to help them in their path to a career and in the app also have jobs and job applications. Testing information would be another big thing like ACT and SAT along with the asvab. Information like where testing centers are or have direct links to registering for test taking. This app will also have information about colleges and what they offer ( major wise) or institutions, along with this information about acceptance rate, tuition, and aid or scholarships they offer. An example is If someone wants to become a veterinarian they would also take a test to see if they would fit in that career. Either way the app would have information on schools near them or out of state and the cost and the acceptance rate along with classes they might need to take in high school.Or if a student wants to go to an engineering field they could easily access information about the career and all they need to do and get to succeed.

3. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project?

The story behind this idea was the fact that me and my friend struggled going into high school and knowing what classes to take to guide us the right pass of our career choice. For example ever since I went into high school I always knew what I wanted to do career wise I wanted to major in Computer science engineering. I had to really find out everything I needed to do myself, I didn't know that high schools in my area offered AP computer science as an elective and this would give me a head start and I felt that there should be an app where it would have all this information about everything I needed to know. Many would benefit from this app.

6. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

I personally never have found an app that can be as helpful as the one my group came up with. This app would definitely help many explore their options in different career fields. This will prepare kids to know what they want to do and prepare them in general to when they get to the college or instituted they aren't clueless they already have some basic knowledge. I feel that this would benefit lower income communities to help the people see past their environment and be motivated to work and better themselves.

7. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

Our project so far has not make a difference yet, but with T-Mobile's help we can make our project happen. To help students on there life path to a future where all career and testing questions can be answer in one app.

8. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

To take our project to the next level we can first start at the girls and boy club then take to high schools. By helping upcoming and students that are attending high school to a better way to contact colleges, careers, and exams. Hoping in the future for the app to expand in every high school.

9. Which of the following types of expertise would be most useful for you?

I think this is a real problem that a lot of young people have when they need to choose a career. It can be really hard , and we need better tools to help students define how they want to make a change in the world.
