Date You Started Your Project Started

08/31/19

Project Stage: Select the description below that best applies to your approach.

  • Idea (hoping to get started in the future)

1. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Climate change. Planting trees brings back biodiversity, restores the water cycle, and sucks co2 out of the air.

2. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

Go very big with a campaign to make Ecosia the default browser at schools around the world.

3. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project?

I found this movement on Instagram, and I was immediately very interested because I have always been a huge advocate for Ecosia.

4. Selfie Elevator Pitch: Include 1-minute video that answers the following “I am stepping up to make change because...”

I am stepping up to make change because something has to be done. No longer can sit idle waiting for our politicians and companies to fix things. We need to act because there just isn't enough time. It's as simple as that. The youth is the answer to this problem. We will be the ones to finally solve this problem.

5. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

Currently, we just focus on what communicating with as many student organazitions and administration as possible telling them what Ecosia is and what we are trying to accomplish with Ecosia on campus.

6. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

It's relatively cheap and very easy to implement.

7. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

We are relatively fresh, but we hope we can plant millions of trees in our first year, and billions within 3 years. It's all about getting the word out.

8. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

Talk to environmental organizations and youth organizations to encourage people at other schools to start campaigns. If we can get a couple schools to make the switch, it makes the switvh for other schools so much easier.

9. Which of the following types of expertise would be most useful for you?

  • Project Plan & Strategy

10. Finances: If applicable, have you mobilized any of the following resources so far?

  • Friend support

How did you hear about this challenge?

Hi Sean! I’m a fan of Ecosia, too — it’s cool to see how tech can be used for positive environmental impact. As you start outreach at schools, I’d encourage you to think beyond the browser about how you can build a team of peers dedicated to environmental sustainability...maybe your own club or events. There are plenty of possibilities to explore— keep at it!
