Date You Started Your Project Started

09/24/19

Project Stage: Select the description below that best applies to your approach.

  • Idea (hoping to get started in the future)

1. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Pollution and deforestation. Plus the struggles that come with being in the army

2. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

Veterans would help plant trees and flowers or maybe help with recycling plastic. If that’s not their cup of tea they can help build machines or come up with ideas that can help the earth. Plus the community could join and help. Like this veterans can mentor kids and teens on how to make our planet better. It doesn’t take an expert to teach others to be gentle to our planet. We can help save the Earth while helping veterans deal with their own inner turmoils.

3. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project?

I’ve always seen veterans get treated badly and it saddens my heart. Knowing that they go through a lot, I want to put a little bit of joy in their lives. Yet I want to help the planet, because like veterans we have put our planet through a lot and it hasn’t given up on us. This is a way to give back and show gratitude to our veterans and Planet Earth!!

4. Selfie Elevator Pitch: Include 1-minute video that answers the following “I am stepping up to make change because...”

I took a stand because everybody talks about how we should change, yet nobody takes that first step to change. We just sit around waiting for others to start. I believe at this rate non of us will take the first step and we’ll just watch our Earth die from the bleachers.

5. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

Veterans would start, and run the project and will be the main focus apart from the earth. People will go out in groups and plant trees and flowers while others will pick up the garbage. After school and weekend programs will be available for kids and teens who want to join the journey to saving our planet. Hopefully the organization will grow outside of Yonkers and little by little outside the U.S and we’ll be able to send people to clean the oceans and other countries. Meanwhile everybody can pitch in ideas on new technology we can build together to help the process of cleaning the Planet. The dream is to get people from all over the world to help this veterans find a light at the end of the tunnel while helping the earth. ANY VETERAN FROM ANY COUNTRY WILL BE ABLE TO BE PART OF THE ORGANIZATION NOT ONLY U.S VETERANS

6. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

I think is different because we would be helping people who are not given the time of day. Still we would be helping the Earth. Is just a way for us to give back and say thank you. I believe not many think about giving back to others. Yes helping the planet should be a priority but so should people who risked their lives for us. What’s the point of them keeping us safe if we’re not doing anything to show our gratitude.

7. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

I know this will make a difference because it would extend the Earth life’s expectancy; and help with the dark times veterans go through. I’m not saying it will solve every environmental and mental problems in this world but it would be a step a foundation for future generations. It’s all about making a foundation for my kids and their kids and their kids kids. It’s all to make sure the people of the future see the beauties of the Earth. Plus for veterans to see that beauty, peace, and happiness can be found although they might not thinks so.

8. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

My idea is to get veterans to run this Association. Once that’s done we can start advertising and getting more people to join. Once we get people we can start on the recycling and planting. Hopefully within a few years we have enough resources to start cleaning the oceans and start cleaning the streets of other countries. Not only that but to be able to plant a whole lot of trees to stop deforestation and the destruction of ecosystems.

It's quite a unique technique to help tame deforestation and pollution by providing veterans with the opportunity to give back to the environment. In a way, your next level ideas reflect our organization, instead of the head of the organization running operations, the veterans run things. Great idea Ms. Elvir!
