Project Stage: Select the description below that best applies to your approach.

  • Idea (hoping to get started in the future)

1. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Giving computers to organizations that need them so they can use them for educational purposes, use them for finding jobs, or use them for doing work for jobs they already have.

2. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

We are going to give new or used computers that are donated to us by other people or companies. We repair them or have them repaired at a store if needed. Then give the computers to other organizations that need them.

3. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project?

I got inspired to be a change maker because I saw a lot of people in poverty when I visited a homeless shelter and it might not have been their fault and they might not have had the same opportunities as us.

4. Selfie Elevator Pitch: Include 1-minute video that answers the following “I am stepping up to make change because...”

https://vimeo.com/362712519 Please copy the above link in a browser to watch.

5. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

Will ask people or companies to donate their used computers even if they are not working properly. After we get them we will repair them if needed. When an organization gets involved, they get computers so the people that come to the organization that needs the computers can use them for educational purposes and finding jobs or getting work done for a job.

6. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

We also take computers that are not working and fix them before giving, instead of accepting only working computers. And also train people to be change makers and help them in learning a skill that can fetch them a job.

7. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

We interviewed people who are our potential donors and also the organizations who will receive the computers to see if they actually need the computers. Based on their input, We plan to start giving computers to local homeless shelters and to a church in India.

8. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

We plan to ask kids and adults to volunteer to fix computers after we teach them how to.

9. Which of the following types of expertise would be most useful for you?

  • Project Plan & Strategy

10. Finances: If applicable, have you mobilized any of the following resources so far?

  • Family support

Hi Abhay,
What a great idea! Being from a food bank I can see the wide applications of your project. So many times organizations like ours struggles to receive technology, it is costly and takes money away from our programs. A donation of computers and other technology would be very helpful. I can also see how your project could impact technology education. Students nowadays need the computer skills and hands on learning is the best kind! I wonder how you could incorporate your project into the diversion of e-waste? In addition, where are you planning on getting the computers donated from? All in all I really like your idea, keep up the great work!
