1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."

World Apparel Co. was founded along the lines of a dream that sparked a movement. We focus on gathering our youth in every community and giving them opportunities to help serve the world. The inspiration to serve started when I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2009, which moved me to want to help others with chronic illnesses. World Apparel Co. sprung into action after a friend and I witnessed the Dallas police shooting, and on that day we knew we had to make a difference in this world while spreading peace, love, and happiness to the public. Our first donation towards Promise House Children's shelter in Dallas, Texas not only made an impact on them, but on us as well. It warmed our hearts and motivated us to go even harder trying to reach those in need not only in the United States, but all over the world. So far we have made impact in Texas, Michigan, and even Africa.

2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Humanity. World Apparel Co tries not to focus on one specific issue happening, but instead we try to find an issue that is causing tragedy in an area and create a mission or tour. We like to create awareness and charity for the issue, and then make a trip to the area to not only provide assistance, but to also get a feel for those who are personally experiencing the tragedy.

3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

We have a few ways of creating solutions for issues around the world. We have a clothing line, and we use the profits to help donate back to such issues, fund mission trips, or whatever is needed to help. We also have "World Events" where we throw events (i.e. parties, concerts, etc.) to raise money in order to help give back. World Apparel not only wants to raise money, but we also want to bring awareness to these issues. We like to say that, "With awareness brings action." People can't help solve an issue if they do not know that an issue is occurring. In the future we want to have charity duplex's for those going through hard times and need a place to get back on their feet. With this we will give them resources for assistance in landing a job, daycare, and more. Our Co Founder wants to go back to school to become a doctor and with his license he hopes to be able to use that in order to open clinics in third world countries that provide stabilizing first aid.

4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

Before every donation we like to link up with the group or person we are connecting with to discuss ways that we can help them, as in if they need school supplies, feminine products, solely money, non perishable foods, etc. Also, how we can help bring awareness to an issue to get people hyped up and stuck. A great example of this would be when we donated water and water filters to those in Flint, Michigan going through the water crisis ( which is still going on). We connected with Mari Copeny (Little Miss Flint) who is a huge activist and spokes person on the situation going on there. We sent her a shirt to pictures in and to post on her social media, and this led to more awareness of the situation and also more exposure to us so that we were able to raise enough money to make somewhat of an impact. We still plan to help for as long as they don't have clean water.

5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

The difference between World Apparel Co. and most organizations is that we don't focus on trying to help one specific issue that is going on in the world or community. We want to make many different impacts on the many issues that people go through in the world. Sometimes we call ourselves the non profit of non profits, meaning that we like to structure ourselves to be in a position to help even the programs out here that are trying to help. We want to share the wonderful experience of giving with as many individuals as possible, and hopefully spark the minds of the next philanthropist.

6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

Our first donation was to the Promise House Children's center of Dallas. We donated hundreds of toys that were needed for the kids and a $200 check for whatever else they wanted to use it for. Next, we donated to those victim of Hurricane Harvey by creating a pop up clothing drive in order to donate clothes to those who lost everything in the storm. After that we went to Flint, MI to donate cases of water, and 15 shower head filters to those dealing with the water crisis going on there. We also helped a little girl in Africa battling meningitis that was attacking her brain. We donated money that gave her medication for two weeks that helped her get over and beat this illness.

7. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

We are partnering with Destiny's House next in order to help those who are recovering from sex/human trafficking and also bring major awareness to the issue. Within the year we are trying to create more connections with those that can help us reach a larger audience. We also want to create teams within our services to help focus on each category (i.e. marketing and creative design) as we continue to grow. Growing a volunteer core is also on the agenda so that we don't have to try to be everywhere at once, and it also gives others the opportunity to experience giving back and missionary work.

8. Future Support: What are the resources needed to make your vision a reality?

Reaching a larger audience in order to create more awareness, and connections to gain more sponsorships, so that we can make a larger impact on those in need is one of the main goals. We are also trying to get together documentary equipment so that we can document with video and blogs to those who are following. Somebody such as a travel agent to help us get around from place to place whenever go on these mission trips. Investors are also a huge part as well since a large part of trying to do anything comes with spending money.

We have many ways to partner with other change makers and would love to! The main thing about our non profit is that we want to help other non profits with whatever they need. If that has to be exposure, help with fundraising, or even supplies we want to be the organization that they can count on.
