March / 1st / 2018

This was the first day I sat down with associates and discussed the game plan for Struggleb4Glory, and ways we can make an impact. We spent a lot of time discussing unique ways we can provide consistent impacts to the people of the world who need it.

Project Stage: Select the description below that best applies to your approach.

  • Start-Up (first few activities have happened)

1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."

I grew up for the first 12 years of my life in a drug riddled home. The little food we had in the house was covered with maggots. I experienced physical pain, emotional pain and many more trials during my life. But I never thought about tapping out in life, in fact I decided I wanted to tap into life and overcome my trials and tribulations! That’s why ever since I was young I decided to apply myself and not become another statistic. It is because of my past, and acts by my now family, that I feel inspired to help ignite change and growth in others who feel down and out, growing up I didn't even have access to basic necessities, I was a kid who was quite about his issues. I was embarrassed. One of Struggleb4Glory's goals is to provide support and help for those kids with clothes, love, and opportunity. In addition, SBG aims to provide help for homeless by helping obtain skills to change.

2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

There's too many children scared, without proper support, there's too many teens throwing their lives away for drugs, and popularity, and there's too many people in general who don't believe they can achieve what they want in life. That used to be my problem, when I had to sleep outside at night by myself at 10 years old I used to believe this would be my life, my reality. Until I realized that I was in control of my life. SBG aims to give hope.

3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

Through CONSISTENT involvement, SBG will dive into not just one but multiple communities over time and first give back to those communities in anyway possible (whichever way fits that community) then members of SBG will give inspiring speeches, and not only speeches, but we will be involved in various community building activities. One of which is a mentorship program which involves current and former college athletes. SBG athletes will be placed with youth athletes to surround those kids with positive role models who are not only college students, but also athletes balancing academics and their sport. When I was young even when I was the most angry for whatever reason, I would listen, and try to impress older athletes. The best way to help children grow is surround them with people they aspire to be, and some kids identify themselves with sports, as I did. SBG's college athlete mentor program is something that helps to connect kids with athletes they can learn from. From a life standpoint and a sporting standpoint. SBG is a group of "providers" with the support of some athletes at the professional level in the NFL SBG will provide people they need with tools they need to succeed.

4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

When it comes to creating change through speaking portion of SBG. I myself have had opportunities to speak high school students, athletes, and others all within my community about my story. When I have I have had countless people tell me how much I impacted their life just by speaking my story! That is what SBG aims to do. Our members share our stories to help inspire. Every story has a breaking point that either breaks or makes us. I have realized that connecting with others who want to share their story means we can make more impact simply by words and passion and most importantly love. Our college athlete mentor program is a new addition, but youth athletes that seem to be angry, lonely, or looking for guidance, or really any kid who feels that they would benefit form having an opportunity to be connected with an athlete at a higher level, will be connected with an athlete.

5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

There are plenty of programs that do a good job at providing support and inspiring others. But SBG's goal is to do the same by not only impacting lives but by impacting communities by hosting fitness events where people can come out and compete in friendly fitness competitions. Life is about living it to the fullest and becoming the best you possible. SBG is different because of the people that we surround ourselves with. Some of us are part of a family in Fitt University, directed by a man by the name of TJ Tyus. Who him himself has his own inspiring story, that has touched thousands of lives

6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

Most of our difference has been made on the stage. Where I have some of my opportunities to speak life into people. For us, we have realized having the ability to use words for positive instead of negative, we can then ignite change and promote success. We will continue to make a difference by again, diving into more communities. The first step to promoting change in lives, and making a consistent impact is to indulge ourselves into those communities and get to know people personally so we can understand their struggle so we can help them reach their glory. Passion is what drives us, and also what has helped us make a difference.

7. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

To reach the next level we need to reach more states. The goal is to be able to branch out into other states and dive into schools, and communities as a whole in order to reach a larger group of people. In addition, the team at SBG has been working on creating more content for our social media in order to reach out more globally and get us out there more. Our website will be up and running the end of June, and all social media platforms will be in full swing as we have more help to get our message out there. We are also working with connecting with a group called Charlotte Rising which is in my hometown. Connecting with them will allow us access to more resources to make changes.

8. Future Support: What are the resources needed to make your vision a reality?

We will need more funding for travel expenses, and funding for better video cameras so we can create better content for our social media platforms, as well as some funding for giving back. We have a plan to grow as an organization, and we know the exact type of people to bring on to the team to make change immediately.

9. Finances: If applicable, have you mobilized any of the following resources so far?

  • Friend support
  • Family support

10. Ripple Effect: Please share some ideas of how you could partner with other changemakers or involve other young people as leaders in making a difference.

We engaged others by showing how important it is to to know that we can be different then our environment. People support the movement, and want help us.

Hi Latrell! I love how you took your personal experience and used it as a method to advocate for change. I can sense that you are already a model that kids in your community can aspire to. Wishing you and your project all the best!

This sounds like such a great idea, and one we need in our world right now! Have you considered bringing in mentors who aren't athletes, for high school kids who are struggling but don't want to follow that path? I look forward to see where the future brings you!

You have a great story. This is Hannah and Zoha from HER (Her Education is Her Right) and we agree with Sierra below. Focus on one small area to make change in your community and your own personal experience will take you far. We cheer you on!

Thank you so much! yes we definitely have a laser focused mentality. The fact my team is so great it really allows us to focus in more then one area! Best of luck with your project and keep on keeping on!

I completely agree with this concept. Many kids and teens are blindsided on the wrong things and need to realize that they can do whatever they put their minds to. Great stuff!!!

Yes! I am the biggest believer in people if you will haha. I just really feel that kids, adults really anybody can achieve whatever they want!
Thanks!

I love your passion and story! Something you might want to do is focus on expanding one area a time, so for example, focusing on fitness and encouraging youth and giving inspiring speeches when you're helping them work out. Sometimes, if we focus on too many areas that we want to change, we spread ourselves too thin. Just something to think about, but I love this idea! Keep it up! :)

Thank you! I totally understand where you are coming from. I have encountered a little until I developed a team, we actually have people who deal specifically with the fitness and exercise portion for people, then we have team members who have the opportunity to speak and do conferences for the youth to help lead them down a path of success. Definitely have to be cautions of spreading ourselves too thin!
Thanks again !

Latrell, so great to see that you have turned your personal hardships into inspirational stories for others to help them get on the right traci. You are truly a changemaker! I really like the idea of connecting young athletes to older athletes that can be a positive role model with their success stories. Connecting through sports is a very powerful avenue and I think you're really on to something. I'd encourage you to keep mapping out the specifics of your plan to turn those great ideas into action. Very best of luck to you!!

Hello Kim! Thank you so much, yes sports and older athletes can have such a big impact on children. I myself looked up to athletes as if they were my brothers, I mirrored what they did at times. I believe connecting kids with athletes can help them have somebody to latch on to in a time of trial of tribulations! If you would like to connect more shoot me an email at levanduski14@gmail.com

I would love to learn more about your project as well honestly!

Great job driving positive outreach in your community! It's so awesome to see people taking hardships and turning them into something that can benefit people as a whole. What kinds of fundraising has your organization been involved in thus far to sustain itself? How have you been able to measure the exact impact it's had in your community?

Team

Hi Elizabeth! first of all, thank you for taking the the time to check out our project. My pain in life has set me on fire to help people end their suffering if I can help. Our fundraising so far has just been donations from family and friends but most of money that we need right now for things like school supplies, clothes, food etc. Come from usually my own pocket or my team. I am apart of multiple organizations in my community that measure the impact we have be reaching out to the community and just listening to them and their needs. We can't make a community better if we do not listen to the people living in it! I Like what you are doing with your project, I would love to learn more or even see if there are ways I can also contribute in any way. My email is levanduski14@gmail.com shoot me an email if you are interested!

Hi Latrell, we love your project, purpose, and passion and would really like to connect with you to share our FUNDRAISING STRATEGY, which we believe that you would be very inspired to see! Our Campaign and projects are all about what LOVE is doing for individuals and groups of individuals. For just $5 a month we are inviting people who BELIEVE in Love like we do to join the campaign, so that we can give them a hand up, and even in some cases, a new lease on life.

Our campaign is all about what Love is doing to help those in need most and for this we are creating projects designed to bring a person from one state to another: EVEN from the state of depression to the state of happiness! We do this by helping them create a life plan and walking them through the steps of achieving it! IMAGINE IF WE could not only teach children a trade, but give them the tools and financial resources to make a business out of it! This is possible and is already being done, but if we are going to reach our goal, then we MUST work together like Fire Ants! We would love to connect with you more about what your doing and see how we can come together to help you humanity!

I love what yall are doing!! "MUST work together like fire ants!" I love that. Lets connect for sure, there are things that if we work together on I know the impact that we can have will only be magnified and enhanced. My email is levanduski14@gmail.com shoot me an email so we can chat more. I would like to learn more!

This is incredible, you're video is unique and captivating. My entire life has been surrounded by helping people, most importantly teenagers, realize that they matter, and with that I started Happy Campaign. No matter their struggle, where they come from, what they've done or the situation they are in, they matter and they have a voice that deserves to be heard, and I am glad your program exists to help with this issue. As Adam Nicholson said below, if you need more connections in Colorado, I am here as well!

Appreciate that @Megan Mays ! The fact people like you see that there is a true NEED for change and help is always amazing! I myself have dealt with my own mental health issues as a result of my past, but luckily I was able to fight my way through it, with little help initially, but some do need help, and thats okay! I would love to speak more sometime, I always like to speak with people about issues they see in their communities and compare them to what it is like in my community just to see if there is a bigger issue at hand.

Thank you for reaching out! If you would like, email me @ levanduski14@gmail.com I have some ideas in mind that we could potentially collab on!

I love your spoken word/rap - powerful words. Well done. Keep up the good work giving back to people in your community. I would love to see more poetry that gets people thinking in new and challenging ways.

Hit us up if you are in Colorado for some connections.

Thank you Adam Nicholson ! I enjoy spoken word just because it allows for a lot of creativity, and a different way to communicate. I checked out CATALYST...and I love the idea behind it. I like that you guys recognize people have talents and skills, and the fact you guys want to create more or even better communication with communities!

My uncle lives in Colorado so of course, if I am out that way I will contact you. I am in the process of editing 4 new spoken words that will posted to youtube over the next months! So stay tuned.
