Idea (hoping to get started in the future)
1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."
We are stepping up to make a change because we know how important the environment and wildlife is and how it's being damaged. We hope to protect and help better a world or even just a part of it that's struggling with all the litter and pollution.
2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?
We will be donating funds raised to a charity dedicated to helping Texas environment and wildlife. Thriving nature is important for many thing in our lives. More and more often, people are taking advantage of and abusing nature. We need to learn to appreciate the world around us and foster new growth. Problems like pollution and littering are destroying the world and if we don't do something to stop it, Earth will be barren.
3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.
We are selling products around our community starting with pastries, likely expanding to other thing and the proceeds are going toward bettering the environment. While doing this we are spreading the word of the problem at hand and encouraging support for a difference. The Texas Wildlife Association will help improve the outlook for Texas plants, animals, and land. Their mission statement is, "Serveing Texas wildlife and it's habitat, while protecting private property rights, hunting heritage and the conservation efforts of those who value and steward wildlife resources." Our hopes for the end product is to lead others to think more about wildlife and pollution thereby causing concern and awareness about a very important topic that is often overlooked.
4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.
We will first contact a store and ask for permission to set up on the storefront. On the agreed date, we will set up a table with our goods and continue to sell for as long as we can. After the fundraiser is over we will send the funds to TWA. Once the money has been delivered we prepare until the next fundraiser. People in our city will be more likely to donate to our stand because TWA doesn't campaign in our area. When we are helped by managers of stores by allowing us to spread the word on their property, or given opportunities to grow our organization by things like this contest, we are furthering our mission to make a difference even if it is only in our community. When people buy our products they are indirectly donating toward our cause.
5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?
What is different about our project compared to others is that our project focuses attention on a problem that those in our state have seen often (when they go on a hike, when they go to the lake, etc.). Making it seem more real and more important. People in our state/community are directly affected by the proceeds of this association.
6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?
We know that we are making a difference because our organization will be a further step into an ongoing process. With expansion in the future we can have a larger impact. Since we are taking the problem one step at a time by starting with our state we will have a noticeable difference rather than trying to tackle an enormous issue so quickly. Though, that is the ultimate goal in the end.
7. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?
The next step for us to take is to open a stand for the first time. As people get more invested in our cause we will grow to a wider spectrum of areas we'll see bigger results to help more. We also plan to get more people involved such a family members in order to get a better kick start to this program.
8. Future Support: What are the resources needed to make your vision a reality?
For support, we would like a group of people to help us set up and run the stands. As our group gets bigger and gains ground, we will need help with supplies and management of resources. Having people to help out with securing locations would be nice--we would like to find someone who has connections. It would be helpful to have an adult helping us out eventually as well. A website would be useful because we could include information such as where we plan to have our locations. This would help people know in advance where we will be, therefore increasing the turnout crowd.

10. Ripple Effect: Please share some ideas of how you could partner with other changemakers or involve other young people as leaders in making a difference.
With other changemkers we could work together in many ways to help build each others causes. From something as easy as advertising the other cause in one's own business to help broaden the audience to as complex as creating a partnership with future websites, locations, etc. We can bond with other organizations as well if their cause is going in a similar direction. This may help boost projects or have more minds and hand to work on our ideas.
