Project Stage: Select the description below that best applies to your approach.

  • Idea (hoping to get started in the future)

1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."

As a child that grew up around plants and found comfort in gardening, I want others to experience what it is like to be able to watch something you worked hard for have a positive outcome. In the lower income areas it is very rare that you find a garden or any land that is not covered in concrete, another house, and dry patches. I believe that by seeing your food grow, it can help in the future. You would learn to be mindful of what you put into your body and overall becoming a healthier person.

2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

Many teens ,including myself, come from a place where therapy and healthy food is not affordable.

3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

Have an organization that can provide a safe place that they can feel comfortable, grow food, and have fun.

4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.

There would be group therapy based on age and one on one counseling where the child/teen could talk about their problems. Also, reading, poetry, and all things involving art. The biggest thing is the garden where everyone works together and learns how to limit their ecological footprint.

5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?

It will combine all of the others into one big organization. There isn't just one thing that it will help with, it is a program that will have many effects in the future for them and it keeps on giving.

6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

It hasn't made a difference yet, because it is just an idea that I've had for a very long time, but I know that once we figure out all of the parts and make it fit, it will be a very good program.

7. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?

I want to get my idea out there, that is the first thing that I need to get it started.

8. Future Support: What are the resources needed to make your vision a reality?

Funding would probably be the biggest thing right now, but there's many celebrities and organizations who probably have the same idea as me and would love to help I hope. I would love for it to be ran off of volunteers and the building to be one that is already built but unoccupied, that way it can be recycled.

10. Ripple Effect: Please share some ideas of how you could partner with other changemakers or involve other young people as leaders in making a difference.

Anyone that has an organization with the idea of providing books, art supplies, and clothing to lower income places could definitely be apart of it. I wouldn't mind partnering with them to make a difference. All credits would be given and acknowledged.
