I presented my idea in front of my 9th grade core class of 45 people and am working on an Instagram page.
Started planning and thinking about my idea around 4/15/18 and now I am just getting it going.

Idea (hoping to get started in the future)
1. Personal Journey: What’s the story behind why you decided to start this project? NOTE: All applications must include a 1 minute video that answers: “I am stepping up to make change because..."
I am stepping up to make change because I play ice hockey and have now for about 13 years. I took my first step onto the ice when I was 2, now I'm 15. I started playing on a boys team and loved it. When I was 10 me and my family moved to Colorado. Two years after we moved to Colorado there was an opportunity for me to play on a girls team so we took it and ever since then I have been playing with girls and it has just not been the same. After lots and lots of convincing and having to write many essays this year I got to play with my boys high school team. I had so much fun and it felt like I had 13 older bothers. There are definitely two clear sides to this problem. Girls should be able to play with the boys and girls should not be able to play with the boys, but this is how I am going to prove my point girls can be as good as the boys and sometimes even better.
The video is terrible quality I tried 3 different video apps and it still did not work. I'm not very tech savy.
2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?
The stereo-type between males and females today is still around because no group of girls has decided to do anything about it. For starters the pay rate between males and females and how males are supposed to be "buff" and the females are supposed to be "thick." They all just think one person can do it all and one day things will change. No girls have to come together to prove there point. They are just as good as the boys, sometimes even better
3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.
First I'm going to have to get my point across. I plan to do that by creating flyers and media pages. Then I'm going to talk to youth sport organizations around me and try to get the girls playing with girls to come play with the boys. I will then hold practices and scrimmages with both boys and girls so the girls get a chance to play with the boys and see how fun it can really be.
4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of what happens when a person or group gets involved with your project.
When a person or group decides to get involved with my project they will either help me go through with my idea or help my idea become a reality by letting there son / daughter participate in the practices or scrimmages that will be held and hopefully eventually let there daughter play on a team with boys.
5. The X Factor: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there?
The different about my project compared to other programs / solutions out there is not a lot of people who have really tried to stop the stereo-type between males and females. Even if they have it has not been in a way where they involve sports to help prove there point.
6. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?
My project has two clear sides. One girls should be allowed to play on boy's teams and the other being girls should NOT be able to play on boy's teams. At the very start of my project I decide to create a survey asking teens, little kids, parents and coaches to take. I asked a few different questions but the two questions that stood out were a question for girls only, if they had the opportunity to play on a boys team would they and a question for everyone, is having a girl play on a boy's team a problem why or why not. Most of the girls said if they could play with the boys they would and for he 2nd question there were a few people who said NO there could be big problems like the locker room that could potentially lead to worse things and the girl could get hurt. On the flip side people were saying yes girls and boys are equal and girls should be able to do the same thing as the boys.
7. What’s Next: What are your ideas for taking your project to the next level?
My ideas for taking my project to the next level right now are pretty simple because as of this very second I have not gotten very far with my idea. I have a plan started I just need to figure out how to make it reality. For starters I'm going to get my idea around by starting media pages and flyers. Then I will get a little bigger and start talking to youth sport groups and finally hope to hold practices and scrimmages so the girls have the chance to play with the boys to see how fun it can really be.
8. Future Support: What are the resources needed to make your vision a reality?
Resources that I have right now are my parents, some girls that currently play hockey on boys teams, some teachers from school and some girls from my club team.
10. Ripple Effect: Please share some ideas of how you could partner with other changemakers or involve other young people as leaders in making a difference.
I could work with someone that has a similar topic as me and we could put our ideas together to get one big one that could end up making a big change. My teacher helped me with this because this was my idea for my final at the end of the year and she let me present it in front of the class to at least start to get my idea out.
