1.Founding Story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that led the founder(s) to get started or the story of how you saw the potential for this to succeed.

I was born in inner city Baltimore, my grandmother (beautician), Uncle (good year tires) and father-in-Law (taxi fleet) were entrepreneurs! Observed how entrepreneurship impacted community, family, friends, self! Realized that HEALTHY communities include HEALTHY LOCAL ECONOMICS! Helps with solving social service issues!

2. The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve?

The issue is a lack of sustainable, independent, local economic/community development!

3. Your Solution: How are you planning to solve this problem? Share your specific approach.

Solution is to help guide stakeholders (organizations, governments, residents) in strategies, tactics, resources to bring entrepreuership/business startups/job creation to impact and scale!

4. Example: Please walk us through a specific example of how your solution is working to solve the problem.

I was a chief architect and strategist for the “Diversity Inclusion Agreement/Iniatative” which launced the “best-in-class” East Baltimore Revitalization, a holistic transformation of an very under-served community! Project included the new Johns Hopkins Biotechnolgy Park, surrounded by new housing stock, chartered schools, recreational spaces, commerical district, with involvement of 30+ stakeholders and a $1.8 billion “spend”! This on-going iniatative is a world class example of “equitable development”, with economic opportunities at all levels of the development process (equity, procurement, professional services, etc)!

5a. Too many people in the U.S. have unmet needs for financial products and services. How is your work reaching a population(s) that is currently underserved? If it is not reaching an underserved population yet, how might it in the near future?

Focus is on under-served populations in urban/inner cities, especially the African/Black American and Latino communities!

5b. Please specify if the population you are reaching is underserved due to any of the following characteristics:

  • geography
  • race/ethnicity
  • age - youth
  • socio-economic class

6. Marketplace: Who else is addressing the same problem? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

None has a national approach, nor have the vision of creating a platform for collaboration to produce greater impact and scale!

7. Impact: How has your project made a difference so far?

Nationally, helped hundreds to startup, expand, business ownership!

8a. Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling your impact?

As mentioned, this Challenge opportunity was passed on to yours truly from a professional, whom I am currently meeting with in Geneva! Additionally, the UN has shown interest in my body of work, expanding decades!

8b. If applicable, which of the following scaling strategies have you launched?

  • Large Scale Partnerships
  • Federations, Associations
  • Open Sourcing
  • Lobbying, Policy Change

9. Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

This work has been substained for decades and will continue to grow, as it is my life’s purpose and ministry! Here, I am looking for the grant to help accelerate the work!

10. Team: What is the current composition of your team (types of roles, qualifications, full-time vs. part-time, board members, etc.), and how do you plan to evolve the team’s composition as the project grows?

This is a sole properitary company, whose LEADER builds tailored- project teams around the projects/programs to assure governance, fiscal responsibility, timeliness, trustworthiness, accountability, transparency, and achievement of intended results!
