When I was in elementary and middle school, children bullied me, but the worst part was that my teachers or my peers didn't do anything to protect me. I grew up with a lot of pain , anger and hate. Even more, when I arrived to US and worked as farmworker I discovered that I was different because of my language and skin color. I learned that being indigenous is reason for shame. Since then, I promised to myself to learn about my indigenous identity, be proud, en inspired others to work together to create a safe and inclusive community for all. I am a proud Mixteco.
