The transformative moment for me came when my friend and neighbor died of cancer last year. She left behind two small children, ages five and 12. Watching this family deal with the loss of a wife and mother has transformed my views on children's bereavement. As I have continued my journey through my Masters of Social Work program at Troy University, I have spent many hours at Covenant Care Hospice in Dothan, Alabama. I am continuing to study aging, death, dying, and the grief process. I hope to make a difference in our local community with innovative hospice, palliative, and bereavement care.
