A budding environmentalist, Justin realized the dangers of improper e-waste disposal in the 7th grade. Since then, he has worked with Alexandra Shakhnazarov to develop a means of addressing the growing concern about e-waste. Together, the duo mobilized 15 students to lead information sessions, reaching 2,500+ people, facilitated 5 e-waste collection events with the New York Dept. of Sanitation, cumulatively preventing 3,000 pounds of waste from entering our land fills, and developed a geo-spatial algorithm based on 12,000+ user-end data points to analyze the e-waste crisis on a local level.
Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestions! I looked into Rafa's story and was touched by his mission to address the e-waste crisis. Also, we are hoping to open-source our algorithm this summer once we add additional features and improve its accuracy on GitHub.
