Like many in 2008, David Higbee struggled to find traction in the workforce. Armed with a Biomedical Science degree he bounced around jobs before finding the social sector. Having played lacrosse in college, David was attracted to Bridge Lacrosse and their work in urban Dallas. As an outlet from uninspiring jobs, he went head first into nonprofits and innovation. Since then, he has taken the reins of Bridge and is focused on the benefits that sports can provide youth. With Bridge growing and success stories to build on, David believes in nontraditional approaches to problem solving in Dallas.
Thank you for the kind feedback. We absolutely see and hear the racial barrier of entry and the perception that lacrosse is a "white" sport. It's quite unfortunate, but for the most part many of the communities we work within are quite open to something new and exciting. In addition, the lacrosse landscape is also quite welcoming to our programs and our youth. There's definitely a commitment and very positive momentum working in our favor, and in favor of the sport overall.
